Nursing
The Saudi Institute for Health Services provides education and training opportunities in nursing for students with secondary school certificate and guarantees the proper nursing job for them in the associated hospitals.

Who are Nurses?

Nurses are persons who have completed an education and training program in nursing and are authorized by the appropriate regulatory authority to practice nursing in their country. They work for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and care of the ill, disabled and dying people. This is in addition to advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management and health awareness.

Nursing Certificate

Based on the years of study the nursing graduate is awarded:

  1. Technical Nursing Diploma program which takes about two years and half.Graduates may complete the Bachelor's program to prepare for a broader scope of nursing practice.
  2. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is still under Construction at this time.

Nursing Study Program

Nursing study program includes classroom instruction and supervised clinical experience in hospitals and other health centers. Students take courses in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, psychology, and other behavioral sciences, and nursing. Coursework also includes liberal arts classes. Supervised clinical experience is provided in hospital departments and public health centres.

  • Period of study and training will be two and a half years.

Nursing Job Prospects/Opportunities

Nursing profession is characterized by wide job prospects and opportunities.

Nurses have the opportunity to work in hospitals, private clinics,  public health where they work with government, private agencies, clinics, schools, other community settings, health education, prevention of illness, nutrition, childcare or occupational & industrial health.

They have the opportunity to become head nurse or nurse supervisors who plan work schedules and assign duties to nurses and aides, provide or arrange for training, and visit patients to observe nurses and to ensure that care is proper. They may also ensure records are maintained and equipment and supplies are ordered.

Is this program good for me?

Nursing is nourshing,self rewarding and always connected, updated to recent advances in medical and behavioral science.

It is satisfying as no feeling is better than to feel that you helped a person who really needed you. The Nursing program is very demanding. Aside from the intense academic curriculum, you are challenged physically and emotionally. But since your peers are going through the same experience, together you provide a strong support mechanism for each other.

Hence, nursing make the group of nurses not only better nurses but better people. If you like to have new experience, like to help people and if you like to develop your career, the nursing profession is good for you.
 

 Futuristic opportunities

Upon the completion of the Technical Diploma Nursing program, the graduates will be entitled to undertake their Bachelor of science in Nursing either from local colleges in jeddah or at american college in Beirut where a new completion program has been sought.

Another option is to join Miami Dade College in Flourida for further articulation in Bachelor of science in Nursing.
